Welcome to MASPweb.com

MASP is the only Michigan organization that represents school psychologists at the state and local level and conducts important activities on your behalf.  Through professional development, advocacy, governance, and publications the board at MASP works hard to represent school psychologists throughout the state of Michigan.

Critical Shortage of School Psychologists

School psychologists are now on the state critical shortage list.  This means that if retirees meet certain requirements and follow the process, they will not be subject to the earnings limit in retirement.  Below are resources for additional information:

  • The phone number for the Michigan Office of Retirement Services: (800)381-5111.
  • Memo (Earnings Limits Rules for Public School Employment if you retired on or after July 1, 2010)
  • Critical Shortage List 3-30-16

If you plan on utilizing this option, please make sure the following occurs:

  • The school district is paying the psychologist coded as a critical shortage position.
  • If the psychologist is working for a contract agency, be sure that they are familiar with this information.
  • Check the Critical Shortage List regularly because it is updated by Michigan Department of Education each year.

Important message regarding
continuing education credits

Due to updates being made by the Michigan Department of Education, all registrants who have a certificate/license issued by MDE MUST provide their PIC# on the SCECH Registration Form at any conference in order for credits to be properly awarded. This document contains more detailed information, and it also includes directions for locating your PIC#.

District PD is now accepted for certificate renewal

Office of Professional Preparation (OPPS) announced that school psychologists may use District Provided Professional Preparation Development (DPPD) to renew and advance their professional certificate as of May 14th, 2015.  The employing district provides verification that the DPPD meets the criteria for recertification.  Learn how to document your DPPD for credit by following the links in this document.
