MASP Annual Fall Conference
November 8-9, 2018
Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville

Welcome to MASPweb.com

MASP is the only Michigan organization that represents school psychologists at the state and local level and conducts important activities on your behalf.  Through professional development, advocacy, governance, and publications the board at MASP works hard to represent school psychologists throughout the state of Michigan.

MASP Position on Child Migrant Separations

The Michigan Association of School Psychologists (MASP) endorses the position that child migrant separations from their parents at the southern border of the United States must cease and that separated families must be reunited expeditiously in order to minimize the risk of trauma reactions among vulnerable children. The rationale for this position is adopted from the statement authored by the National Association of School Psychology (NASP):

  Critical Shortage of School Psychologists

The Critical Shortage Law was set to expire on July 1st, 2018, which allowed under certain circumstances  for school psychologists to continue to work after retirement.  MASP is fully aware of shortages many districts face throughout the state as well as the larger caseloads most of us carry, which are above the national recommended levels.  MASP lobbied for a renewal of this law.   On April 26, 2018 it was voted on and passed, and then approved by the governor on 5/10/18 for immediate effect. Thanks to the members of the MASP Board who continue to follow this issue and gathered this information for us!! Please read the following for more information.
