The purpose of this scholarship is to support and encourage the development of a more diverse and representative group of future school psychologists in Michigan. The award provides financial assistance to graduate students from underrepresented or minoritized backgrounds who are pursuing a degree in school psychology within the state.
For the purpose of this scholarship, underrepresented or minoritized identity includes individuals who identify with one or more of the following groups:
American Indian/Indigenous
Black or African American
Asian
Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
More than one race
Arab, Middle Eastern, or North African origin
Latino/Hispanic origin
Individuals with disabilities, particularly low-incidence or underrepresented conditions (e.g., deafness, blindness, mobility-limiting physical impairments)
LGBTQ+
Other backgrounds not listed

Applicants must:
Reside in Michigan
Be enrolled in or accepted to a graduate program in school psychology in Michigan (full or part time)
Be at least pursuing a Master’s, Education Specialist, or Psychology Specialist degree in school psychology
Identify as part of an underrepresented or minoritized group
Yes. First-year students may apply if they have been accepted to and committed to a school psychology graduate program in Michigan beginning in Fall 2026.
Yes. Students entering their internship year in Fall 2026 are eligible to apply.
At least one scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded. Depending on available funding, additional awards may be considered.
All application materials must be submitted by June 15, 2026.
The final recipient(s) will be selected in September 2026.
The scholarship will be formally presented at the MASP Fall Conference in October or November 2026.
While attendance at the MASP Fall Conference is encouraged to celebrate your achievement and connect with professionals in the field, it is not required. If the recipient is available to attend, their conference registration will be covered.
